In this context, it might also be of interest to the readers that on 27 August 2010 (thus, after publication of the present blog note), the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Russian Federation Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with Order Nr. 39, approved the "Rules on Impartiality and Independence of Arbitrators", which contain 13 articles and are published in Russian language on the homepage of the International Commercial Arbitration Court. According to their Article 2, the application of these rules is recommended for arbitrations in the International Commercial Arbitration Court and the other arbitration courts attached to the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Russian Federation, as well as other arbitral tribunals within the Russian Federation.

Since the contribution also features news regarding personal changes, I would like to add that also in Ukraine, such a change took place recently: on 3 August 2010, the Presidency of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine decided that with effect of 12 August 2010, Igor Gavrilovich Pobirchenko will no longer act as President of the International Commercial Arbitration Court and of the Sea Arbitration Commission attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, due to health reasons. Prof. Dr. Pobirchenko has contributed significantly to the development of international commercial arbitration in Ukraine; in recognition of his accomplishments, the Presidency of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has named Prof. Pobirchenko "Honorary President of the International Arbitration Court".

The duty of President of the International Commercial Arbitration Court and the Sea Arbitration Commission will be performed by Prof. Nikolay Fedosovich Selivon, a merited lawyer of Ukraine, a member of the National Academy of Juridical Sciences, and former Ambassador of the Republic Ukraine to the Republic of Kazakhstan, who has been hearing international cases within the court of arbitration since April 1994.
